Encouragement for Today

Principle 4

“Healthy Hearts are Happy Hearts”

Lysa TerKeurst, President of Proverbs 31 Ministries

Key Verse:

Matthew 7:9-11, “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?  Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?  If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will you Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (NIV)

Devotion:

Healthy hearts are happy hearts.  We have a special tradition of afternoon treats in our home. Now a nutritionist may or may not agree with me, but I think it’s a most heart healthy habit. Not that our treats are always that healthy, mind you. My kids and I love fresh baked cookies, moist chewy brownies, and other concoctions of all kinds. Sometimes we eat apples, oranges, or some other snack from the healthier regions of the food pyramid. But mostly we like sweet treats.

These treats are “heart” healthy for how they create moments of joy in the midst of busy schedules, projects that are due, activities to attend, and chores to be done. It’s a little burst of comfort that I, as a mom, delight in giving my children. It says, “I love you…I think about ways to make you happy…and I consider it a privilege to enjoy a treat with you.”

I remember as a little girl, my mom making ginger snap cookies for me. Even now, I can close my eyes and picture her rolling little balls of brown dough through the sugar before placing them on the cookie sheet. Then I’d watch as she placed them in the oven. The best part, though, was when mom and I enjoyed the first bite together. They were a connection point for us, and to this day, the smell of ginger makes me smile.

If these little treats made me happy as a child, why do they have to stop? I mean, why is it that I sometimes think motherhood is all about what I do for others and never about the wonderful benefits of treating myself? Sometimes the religious church lady in me creeps in with a wagging finger saying, “Don’t be so worldly! Pull out your Bible and read a verse or two. Get refreshed from the Spirit. Drink the Living Water and you’ll never thirst again. If you are really feeling weary, sing a hymn or two and stop thinking of yourself. It is better to give than receive!” Yikes. So, I whisper back at her, “If you are so into giving these days, I’d gladly let you watch my five kids, run their carpools, clean and cook for me while I go sit in the tub and sing hymns and reflect on spiritual insights.”

Yes, I think it is the best kind of refreshment to let the Lord fill you. But, just like me giving treats to my kids makes me happy, I think our Heavenly Father would like for us to receive things that make us happy as a treat from Him.

There has been so much talk about the difference between joy and happiness in the Christian world that we tend to shy away from happiness. Now granted, ginger snaps can’t provide me with lasting joy, but they sure can lighten a heavy moment. So, why not make a list of things that really make you feel happy. Then the next time you are feeling a little drained, put a care package together for yourself and thank God for His sweet treats.

My Prayer for Today:

Thank you, God, for simple treats that make me happy. They are a gift from You.  Help me give myself permission to receive them as a simple reason to give You thanks and to make my heart happy.

Application Steps:

Here are some of the things on my sweet treats care package list as an idea.  Think about what you really want and make up your own package:

1.  Cinnamon Altoids Gum

2.  Black gel pen-medium point

3.  A candle that smells of the season

4.  New pair of white socks

5.  Lemon flavored Propel

6.  Brownies from a box mix

7.  Dryer sheets-fresh spring scent

8.  Inspirational CD

9.  Cup of White Chocolate Mocha, skim, no whip, no foam, extra hot

If you feel like it, share your sweet treats with others.  Sharing the experience can make it that much more enjoyable!

Reflection Points:

What are some simple treats that make your heart happy?

What small gifts of happiness has God allowed you to experience recently?

Do you acknowledge them as gifts from your Heavenly Father?

God is a parent who loves to give gifts to His daughters.  How has God taught you about being His child?

Power Verses:
James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” (NIV)

Ecclesiastes 2:25-26, “For without him, who can eat of find enjoyment?  To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God.  This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.” (NIV)

Proverbs 15:13, “A happy heart makes the face cheerful.” (NIV)

Memorial Service for Lynn

There will be a memorial service for Lynn Carter this Saturday at 7:00 at McClure Funeral Home in Mebane.  That's all the details I have right now.

Stephanie

In Memory of Lynn

Create Your Own!

Sad news.....

A long-time friend of mine passed away Monday evening. Linda "Lynn" Carter was 41 years old and leaves behind 4 beautiful children aged 6-19. I haven't been told yet what the arrangements are going to be, but please pray for this family. This was very unexpected.

My heart is so burdened right now because I had been friends with Lynn since 1998 and it is really hard to believe that she is no longer here with us. But I am praying hard that God would use this situation to do something really wonderful. Out of the darkness, Jesus is our Light. So just please be praying. And if you don't mind, please pass this along to anyone you know that can get a prayer up.

Thanks and God bless,
Stephanie

P.S......This is why we should always tell people how much they mean to us. Because none of us are promised tomorrow. I am sitting here thinking now that I wish I had talked to Lynn recently so I could have told her I loved her. Don't let time pass by without letting people know how much you care about them. Give people their flowers while they are living!!

Prayer Request

As some of you know, my husband Bo is coaching my son Dylan's pee-wee basketball team.  We just found out that his assistant coach, Toby Andrews, passed away suddenly Sunday night.  Toby was only 34 years old and leaves behind a wife and two young sons.  Visitation will be tonight at Lowe Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00pm and the funeral will also be at Lowe tomorrow (10/25/06) at 2:00pm.  Please remember the Andrews family in your prayers, as this was an unexpected and devastating blow to them.  Also remember Dylan's basketball team in your prayers as well as the other teams (football and mite basketball) that Toby coached.  Thanks for your prayers.  God bless you all.

Love,
Stephanie

[Fwd: Read this Twice]

> > Beautifully stated -  Read it twice
> >
> > As we grow up, we learn that even the one person that wasn't supposed to ever let you down probably will. You will have your heart broken probably more than once and it's harder every time. You'll break hearts too, so remember how it felt when yours was broken. You'll fight with your best friend. You'll blame a new love for things an old one did. You'll cry because time is passing too fast, and you'll eventually lose someone you love. So take too many pictures, laugh too much, and love like you've never been hurt because every sixty seconds you spend upset is a minute of happiness you'll never get back. So send this to all of your friends (and me) in the next 5 minutes and a miracle will happen tonight.

Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "donating a mammogram" for free (pink window in the middle).

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Prayers needed

You all know how much I believe in the power of prayer.  Well, I need you to remember my husband, Bo, in your prayers.  Bo has acid reflux disease and some other stomach conditions.  He has been very sick for the past week and is in need of your prayers.  I am believing God for his healing, but I need you to agree with us in prayer.

I think about the woman with the issue of blood, and how she had been to all the doctors, and spent all her money and was still not well, but just ONE TOUCH of the hem of Jesus's garments made her whole.  So when you think of that, and how she reached out and touched just the hem of His garments, then imagine what a touch from God can do!!!  I know God is going to touch Bo.  I am just waiting on his miracle.  But in the meantime, he still needs prayer.  So if you will, forward this to anyone you know that can get a prayer up.  With lots of prayers going up, there's no telling what will happen!!  Thanks and God bless all of you!!

Love,
Stephanie

Thank You Lord, For Your Blessings On Me

A much needed update about me!!

So much has happened since I first created my website!! I hardly know where to begin!! First, let me say that God has been so good to me! If I thought He had blessed me in the past, He has (as usual) outdone Himself!! After 7 & 1/2 years as a single mother of 2, God sent me a wonderful man that I married in May of 2006. His name is James (but he goes by his nickname, Bo) and he is a wonderful, loving man, who puts God first in all things (which is exactly what I had been praying for). We moved into a new home the end of May and we are surrounded by close friends and family whom we love dearly. My daughter is now 12 years old and my son is 8. They just started new schools because of where we moved during the summer. To my surprise and delight, their new schools allow them a moment of silence in the morning so that they can pray. I thought that was something that was completely prohibited in public schools these days. They sure weren't allowed to do that at their old schools! They are very happy and absolutely love my husband. They even call him "daddy" and they thank the Lord that He sent Bo to us, as do I.

I started teaching the teenage/young adult Sunday School Class at our church in January and I have really received a blessing from that. I look forward to spending time with those kids. They really love the Lord, and I think they teach me just as much, if not more, than I teach them!! I am also advisor for our Mime Team now, and I am director of the Youth Group, with help from my husband, who just recently took over as teacher of the children's Sunday School Class. It is so exciting and rewarding to me to be able to do God's work as a family affair!! But God really continues to use me and I am so thankful, because I am unworthy even to call upon His name, yet He chose me to do something for Him and that is such an honor and a priveledge.I lost my job at G&K in March and have been receiving unemployment benefits, but they are about half of what my net pay was when I was working. But praise God, it is giving me the opportunity to try and start my own business from home. I am working on the computer and selling things on Ebay and I pray that God will allow this to be another opportunity for Him to use me in some way, as well as help bring in extra income for my family. If there is one thing I have learned, it is that God never closes a door without opening a window!!

As I look back over the past few years it amazes me at how much God has done in my life. Of course He is able to do ALL things, but the fact of the matter is I don't deserve any of the blessings He has bestowed upon me. God has brought me through so many things and I have come so far in my Christian life. I have also learned that you can be as close to God as you want to be. If I ever start to back up from God, I pray that He would call it to my attention and draw me closer to Him, because I want to be as close to Him as I possibly can be. He is my everything. Everything I have, I owe to Him. Without Him I could do nothing, but with Him I can do ALL things!! To each of you reading this, I urge you to draw closer to God. You will never believe the miracles He will work in your life!! When you give everything over to God, He will use you and bless you in so many ways.

I want to leave you with the words to one of my favorite songs because it is so fitting of my life:

THANK YOU LORD, FOR YOUR BLESSINGS ON ME
As the world looks upon me, As I struggle along,
They say I have nothing, But they are so wrong
In my heart, I'm rejoicing, How I wish they could see,
Thank you Lord, For your blessings on me
There's a roof up above me, I have a good place to sleep,
There's food on my table, And shoes on my feet,
You gave me your love, Lord, And a fine family,
Thank you Lord, For your blessings on me
You know I'm not wealthy, And these clothes are not new,
I don't have much money, But Lord I have you,
And to me, that's all that matters, Though the world may not see,
Thank you Lord, For your blessings on me
There's a roof up above me, I have a good place to sleep,
There's food on my table, And shoes on my feet,
You gave me your love, Lord, And a fine family,
Thank you Lord, For your blessings on me!

Someone recently managed to post to this blog by email, so if you saw a weird looking post, that is why.  I have changed all my settings in hopes that the person will not be able to do it again, but if you ever see anything really strange on here please email me at sf@godwillmakeaway.cjb.net so that I can check it out.  Thanks!!  God bless all of you who read the stuff I put here.  I promise that I will make a lengthier post soon to catch all of you up on what has been going on with me.  I got remarried in May, and things have just been so hectic.  But like I said, I promise I will post soon with an update.   Until next time, be blessed.....

Fw: BABY EMILEE

This email is from my online friend, Carol. I wanted to share this with you all so that you can be praying for this family. Thanks so much.

Subject: Fwd: BABY EMILEE

Stephanie,
Emilee was a preemie. She was born 2 and a half months early. Her mom (Trina) had toxcima. Emilee fought a good fight to survive. She had a chronic lung disease. The hole in her heart was bigger than her arioa and this forced them to have to go ahead and do heart surgery. Her lining to her intestines came loose. Then she started passing blood in her stool.
Emilee weighed 1 lb. 4 oz. at birth she gained up to 2 lb. 3 oz. Everyone in the whole upstate and in other states were praying for her. She lived 6 weeks and 1 day. Her last day her mom went to see her and dropped pictures by for me at work. Then that evening the hospital called and said her blood pressure dropped and then she flatlined. They never could revive her.
You know Stephanie, I have suffered a lot of lost in my life. But to see my only child holding her baby for the first time ever after her death broke my heart.
This has been so hard, but I STILL BELIEVE MY GOD CAN HEAL!
We call Emilee our little missionary. God gave her to us. She had a special mission. She led her daddy to the Lord. Andy (her dad) told his dad that when Emilee came home he was coming to the Lord. The night she died he told his dad
"Emilee is home now I'm coming to God." He went forward Sunday and joined the church! This Sunday 8/6/06 he was baptisted. Just as he stood up to go to be baptisted he looked back at his brother and I saw Emilee in his face. Just the way he cut his eyes and looked around. I felted like Emilee was going under with him and came up again.
Emilee's due date was September 17. I DO NOT think it chance that she was born on her daddy's birthday!
Tonight 8/6/06 Trina's best friend Laura told me she came back to God because of Emilee!
So many people have told me that because of Emilee their lives have been changed in one way or another!
I know I will see her again in heaven one day and the good Lord knows I miss her so. Please pray that Trina and Andy will once again have a child. And that God will let them keep it to hold, raise to serve Him and to love.
Thank you for asking this is the first that I have gotten online since Emilee went to be with the Lord.

Keep us in your thoughts and prayers,
Love ya,
Carol

alarm clock didn't go off in time.

One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike
           because of an auto accident.

           One of them
           missed his bus.

One spilled food on her clothes and had to take
           time to change.

           One's
           car wouldn't start.

           One went back to
           answer the telephone.

           One had a
           child that dawdled
and didn't get ready as soon as he should have.

           One couldn't
           get a taxi.
The one that struck me was the man
who put on a new pair of shoes that morning,
took the various means to get to work
but before he got there, he developed
           a blister on his foot.
He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid.
That is why he is alive today.

            Now when I am
            stuck in traffic,
                miss an elevator,
turn back to answer a ringing telephone...
all the little things that annoy me.
            I think to myself,
            this is exactly where
    God wants me to be
    at this very moment...

Next time your morning seems to be
            going wrong
the children are slow getting dressed,
you can't seem to find the car keys,
                you hit every traffic light,
            don't get mad or frustrated;
God is at work watching over you.

May God continue to bless you
with all those annoying little things
and may you remember their possible purpose.

Pass this on to someone else,
            There is NO LUCK attached.
If you delete this, it's okay:

Fw: The Blind Horse

Just up the road from my home is a field, with two horses in it.

From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your
car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing.

Looking into the eyes of one horse will disclose that he is blind. His owner
has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him.

This alone is amazing.

If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around
for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller
horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her
blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her.

As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always
checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk
to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him astray. When she
returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and
looks back, making sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell.

Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because
we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches
over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in
need.

Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of
those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse,
helping others see.

Good friends are like this .......... You don't always see them, but you
know they are always there.

Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.

"Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of
battle."

Fw: WOW

Subject: WOW

I got this PM this morning and my husband and I had just got through discussing it, how sad can this be, so sick.
Satan is trying on ever hand to take all he can right into the pitts of hell with him, he knows he has only a short time left, he is working harder then ever.

Please , please do all you can to get this  message out there to the lost and dying souls that or on their way to hell. The enemy can use this movie to lie to folks and justifiy,  sin is ok... do not be fooled by the enemy, he would take your life right now if God would take down that hedge about you.

Like Job in Gods word , we all have a hedge of protection from the enemy, of taking our lifes.
We never know when God is going to let down the hedge and we go to our finally destination.
Hey, just in case one doesn't know... we all going to live for ever, the soul of man will never die.
Where is your home going to be?

Know this one thing, I care about every breathing living soul,
I would not want to see a dog burn forever and ever , no ending.
Must less a human.

Thanks Starr...........................
I will pass it on, if it stops one soul from waking up in hell, it will be worth it all.

Subject: Fw: The Da Vinci Code Lie Exposed

I am not knowledgeable enough aboutThe DaVinci Code movie to know whether it is what this e-mail claims, but I do know that "your adversary the devil walks about like a ROARING LION, seeking whom he may devour".  (1 Peter 5:8) and the Word tells us to be "sober and vigilant" regarding him.  You may have already seen this e-mail - I hadn't until this morning - and you may have read other things about the movie.  My only thought about it is that we must evaluate it according to what God's Word tells us.  I am not trying to espouse any "opinion" - just passing along something that was sent to me for your consideration.

Pat

The Da Vinci Code Lie Exposed

The movie The Da Vinci Code staring Tom Hanks, directed by Ron Howard will soon be released in the first part of this year. This movie will have the potential to deceive billions of the worlds population. The story line attacks the very heart of the Gospel and attempts to destroy the very nature and character of the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God. (Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against His anointed? Psalm 2:1, 2)

Satan knows his time is about up and now he will attempt to take one of his best shots by enlisting all of hell to belch out its worse deception in that of stripping Jesus Christ of His Divine nature and turning him into a mere man who secretly marries Mary Magdalene.  To add insult to injury the story depicts the idea that certain shadowy Christian groups for 2,000 years have purposely and secretly hidden this so called fact  behind the scenes and thus it is finally revealed in a coded message buried in Le onardo Da Vincis painting.   Even the movie trailer for this story presents it as the truth finally revealed about Jesus!  (this is just what the Islamic Fascists need to give added credence to their bloody, destructive campaign of global terror!)

It is time for Christians (the Body of Christ) everywhere to rise up and expose this lie from the pit of hell that will be perpetuated on the whole world in just a couple of short months.  This is no time to back down in the day of battle.  It is a time to pray and fast like never before that God will raise up a standard against the enemy as he comes in like a flood.  Satan always overplays his hand and once again he is about to overplay it big time because as usual he overplays it right into Gods plan to present the truth to the whole world. And this Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come Matthew 24:14

Oswald Chambers states in his timeless writing My Utmost For His Highest Our calling is not primarily to be holy men and women but to be proclaimers of the Gospel of God. The one all-important thing is that the Gospel of God should be recognized as the abiding reality  Yet we have to ask ourselves today when this abiding reality comes under direct attack who will defend it?  The answer can only be that those of us who have been transformed by its truth for eternity will and must defend it here and now.

Pray that Christian lay people, prayer leaders, writers, pastors, and all those in Christian media outlets will get the message out and expose this deception of hell and reveal the lie this movie will present before it ever hits the theaters.

We can only say about Tom Hanks & Ron Howard Father forgive them for they know not what they do but to the enemy of the cross we can only declare to him, go ahead take your best shot because your time is up and you will soon be cast into the lake of fire."

E-mail this on to everyone you know (dont delete, give it feet) and lets expose this lie for what it is because the hour is late and  much later than we think.

Hey,
My papa, (mamas daddy) found out last week that he has bone cancer.  They said the cancer is wrapped around the bone.  He goes tomorrow at 1:00 to find out if they can do surgery or not and if not, when he will start radiation.  Also, my cousin, Jamie's daddy and stepmom got killed in a car accident this weekend.  She is a year younger than me and is not taking it well, (I mean who would, right?).  It is the Wright family.  Could you please help me pray about these two situations?

With love,
Angela

Letter From Jesus

As you well know, we are getting closer to my birthday. Every year there is a celebration in my honor and I think that this year the celebration will be repeated. During this time there are many people shopping for gifts, there are many radio announcements, TV commercials, and in every part of the world everyone is talking that my birthday is getting closer and closer.  It is really very nice to know, that at least once a year, some people think of me. As you know, the celebration of my birthday began many years ago. At first people seemed to understand and be thankful of all that I did for them, but in these times, no one seems to know the reason for the celebration. Family and friends get together and have a lot of fun, but they don't know the meaning of the celebration.

I remember that last year there was a great feast in my honor. The dinner table was full of delicious foods, pastries, fruits, assorted nuts and chocolates. The decorations were exquisite and there were many, many beautifully wrapped gifts. But, do you want to know something? I wasn't invited. I was the guest of honor and they didn't remember to send me an invitation.  The party was for me, but when that great day came, I was left outside, they closed the door in my face.......... and I wanted to be with them and share their table. In truth, that didn't surprise me because in the last few years all close their doors to me.  Since I was not invited, I decided to enter the party without making any noise. I went in and stood in a corner. They were all drinking; there were some who were drunk and telling jokes and laughing at everything.  They were having a great time.

To top it all, this big fat man all dressed in red wearing a long white beard entered the room yelling Ho-Ho-Ho! He seemed drunk. He sat on the sofa and all the children ran to him, saying:  "Santa Claus, Santa Claus"... as if the party were in his honor!  At 12 midnight all the people began to hug each other ; I extended my arms waiting for someone to hug me and .... do you know ... no one hugged me.  Suddenly they all began to share gifts. They opened them one by one with great expectation. When all had been opened, I looked to see if, maybe, there was one for me. What would you feel if on your birthday everybody shared gifts and you did not get one?  I then understood that I was unwanted at that party and quietly left.

Every year it gets worse. People only remember to eat and drink, the gifts, the parties and nobody remembers me. I would like this Christmas that you allow me to enter into your life. I would like that you recognize the fact that almost two thousand years ago I came to this world to give my life for you, on the cross, to save you.  Today, I only want that you believe this with all you heart.  I want to share something with you. As many didn't invite me to their party, I will have my own celebration, a grandiose party that no one has ever imagined, a spectacular party. I'm still making the final arrangements.  Today I am sending out many invitations and there is an invitation for you.

I want to know if you wish to attend and I will make a reservation for you and write your name with golden letters in my great guest book. Only those on the guest list will be invited to the party. Those who don't answer the invitation, will be left outside.  Do you know how you can answer this invitation? it is by extending it to others whom you care for...
I'll be waiting for all of you to attend my party this year...
See you soon .... I love you !

Teach the Children

Just a week before Christmas, I had a visitor. This is how it happened...

I just finished the household chores for the night and was preparing to go
to bed, when I heard a noise in the front of the house. I opened the door to
the front room and to my surprise, Santa himself stepped out from behind the
Christmas tree. He placed his finger over his mouth so I would not cry out.

"What are you doing?" I started to ask. The words choked up in my throat,
and I saw he had tears in his eyes. His usual jolly manner was gone. Gone
was the eager, boisterous soul we all know.

He then answered me with a simple statement. "TEACH THE CHILDREN!" I was
puzzled. What did he mean? He anticipated my question, and with one quick
movement brought forth a miniature toy bag from behind the tree.

As I stood bewildered, Santa said, "Teach the children! Teach them the old
meaning of Christmas. The meaning that now-a-days Christmas has forgotten."

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a FIR TREE and placed it before
the mantle. "Teach the children that the pure green colour of the stately
fir tree remains green all year round, depicting the everlasting hope of
mankind, all the needles point heavenward, making it a symbol of man's
thoughts turning toward heaven."

He again reached into his bag and pulled out a brilliant STAR. "Teach the
children that the star was the heavenly sign of promises long ago. God
promised a Saviour for the world, and the star was the sign of fulfillment
of His promise."

He then reached into his bag and pulled out a CANDLE. "Teach the children
that the candle symbolizes that Christ is the light of the world, and when
we see this great light, we are reminded of He who displaces the darkness."

Once again he reached into his bag and removed a WREATH and placed it on the
tree. "Teach the children that the wreath symbolizes the real nature of
love. Real love never ceases. Love is one continuous round of affection."

He then pulled from his bag and ornament of HIMSELF. "Teach the children
that I, Santa Claus symbolize the generosity and good will we feel during
the month of December."

He then brought out a HOLLY LEAF. "Teach the children that the holly plant
represents immortality. It represents the crown of thorns worn by our
Saviour. The red holly represents the blood shed by Him."

Next he pulled from his bag a GIFT and said, "Teach the children that God so
loved the world that he gave His Son... Thanks be to God for his unspeakable
gift. Teach the children that the wise men bowed before the Holy Babe and
presented him with gold, frankincense and myrrh. We should always give gifts
in the same spirit of the wise men."

Santa then reached in his bag and pulled out a CANDY CANE and hung it on the
tree. "Teach the children that the candy cane represents the shepherds'
crook. The crook on the staff helps to bring back strayed sheep to the
flock. The candy cane is the symbol that we are our brother's keeper."

He reached in again and pulled out an ANGEL. "Teach the children that it was
the angels that heralded in the glorious news of the Saviour's birth. The
angels sang 'Glory to God in the highest on earth peace and good will toward
men."

Suddenly, I heard a soft twinkling sound, and from his bag he pulled out a
BELL. "Teach the children that as the lost sheep are found by the sound of
the bell, it should ring mankind to the fold. The bell symbolizes guidance
and return." Santa looked back and was pleased.

He looked back at me and I saw that the twinkle was back in his eyes. He
said, "Remember, teach the children the true meaning of Christmas and do not
put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One that is, and
I bow down to worship Him, Jesus Christ our Lord, our God."

Fw: Shopping story

       Who Started This Christmas Stuff?

A woman was out Christmas shopping with her two children.
       After many hours of looking at row after row of toys and everything else imaginable;
and after hours of hearing both her children asking for everything they
saw on those many shelves, she finally made it to the elevator with her two kids.

She was feeling what so many of us feel during the holiday season
time of the year. Overwhelming pressure to go to every party, every
housewarming, taste all the holiday food and treats, getting that perfect
gift for every single person on our shopping list, making sure we don't
forget anyone on our card list, and the pressure of making sure we
respond to everyone who sent us a card.

Finally the elevator doors opened and there was already a crowd in
the car. She pushed her way into the car and dragged her two kids in with
her and all the bags of stuff. When the doors closed she couldn't take it
anymore and stated, "Whoever started this whole Christmas thing
should be found, strung up and shot."
From the back of the car, everyone heard a quiet calm voice respond,
"Don't worry, we already crucified Him." For the rest of the trip down
the elevator it was so quiet you could have heard a pin drop.

Don't forget this year to keep the One who started this whole
Christmas thing in your every thought, deed, purchase, and word.
If we all did it, just think of how much better this whole world would be.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holiday Season

Also, don't forget to visit my friend, Robin's website at http://www.iwantustobetogeatherinheaven.com   I promise you will get a blessing from it!  And please pray for Robin, because she has been very sick for the past week or so.

And last but not least, as we all get ready to celebrate Christmas, please remember to take the time to reflect on what Christmas is REALLY about:  The birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who came to earth to die for our sins that we might have eternal life.  Now that really is the greatest gift ever given!

God bless you all.  Until next time, be blessed.....

Let it go for 2005.. By T. D. Jakes

There are people who can walk away from you. And hear me when I tell you this! When people can walk away from you: let them walk. I don't want you to try to talk another person into staying with you,  loving you, calling you, caring about you, coming to see you, staying attached to you. I mean hang up the phone. When people can walk away from you let them walk.  Your destiny is never tied to anybody that left. The bible said that, they came out from us that it might be made manifest that they were not for us.  For had they been of us, no doubt they would have continued with us. [1 John 2:19]  People leave you because they are not joined to you. And if they are not joined to you, you can't make them stay.  Let them go.
And it doesn't mean that they are a bad person it just means that their part in the story is over. And you've got to know when people's part in your story is over so that you don't keep trying to raise the dead.  You've got to know when it's dead. You've got to know when it's over. Let me tell you something. I've got the gift of good-bye. It's the tenth spiritual gift, I believe in good-bye. It's not that I'm hateful, it's that I'm faithful, and I know whatever God means for me to have He'll give it to me. And if it takes too much sweat I don't need it.

Stop begging people to stay.
Let them go!!

If you are holding on to something that doesn't belong to you and was never intended for your life, then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to past hurts and pains ....
LET IT GO!!!
If someone can't treat you right, love you back, and see your worth.....
LET IT GO!!!
If someone has angered you ......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to some thoughts of evil and revenge......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are involved in a wrong relationship or addiction......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are holding on to a job that no longer meets your needs or
talents......
LET IT GO!!!
If you have a bad attitude.......
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep judging others to make yourself feel better......
LET IT GO!!!
If you're stuck in the past and God is trying to take you to a new
level in Him......
LET IT GO!!!
If you are struggling with the healing of a broken relationship.......
LET IT GO!!!
If you keep trying to help someone who won't even try to help themselves......
LET IT GO!!!
If you're feeling depressed and stressed
LET IT GO!!!
If there is a particular situation that you are so used to handling yourself and God is saying "take your hands off   of it," then you need to......
LET IT GO!!!
Let the past be the past. Forget the former things. GOD is doing a new thing for 2005!!!
LET IT GO!!!
Get Right or Get Left.. think about it, and then ....
LET IT GO!!!
"The Battle is the Lord's!"

"Yes, I love my God.

He is my fountain of Life and My Savior.

He Keeps me going day and night.

Without Him, I am no one.

But with Him, I can do everything,

Christ is my strength."
