Parental Warning - The Golden Compass Movie

Opening tomorrow in theatres is a movie marketed towards children titled "The Golden Compass" starring Nicole Kidman, Daniel Craig, Kevin Bacon, Eva Green, and John Hurt.

Below is a review from ChristianAnswers.net:

This film is an adaptation of part of an objectionable trilogy of novels. Titled His Dark Materials, the books were written to be an influential atheistic counterpart to "The Chronicles of Narnia" and "The Lord of the Rings." They are aimed at children and were written by anti-God activist Phillip Pullman who was featured in the 2005 documentary series "Why Atheism?". He is described as "one of England's most outspoken atheists" by New Yorker journalist Laura Miller.

Pullman said in an interview, "My books are about killing God. If we're talking on the scale of human life and the things we see around us, I'm an atheist. There's no God here. There never was. But if you go out into the vastness of space, well, I'm not so sure. On that level, I'm an agnostic." [Steve Meacham, "The Shed Where God Died," The Syndney Morning Herald (December 12, 2003).]

Please forward this email and help us in alerting parents about this movie. Thank you to the several concerned readers who emailed me and shared this information.

NASB Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?"

Commentary
   The answer God gave is a summary of everything He had proclaimed through Jeremiah to this point-His judgment on the sin of Judah and His promise to restore them in the future. What Jeremiah needed was a reminder. This principle of remembrance and repetition of truth is a biblical one (Deut. 6:4-9, 20-25).

Did you know?
    Jeremiah delivers his prophecies in Jerusalem, capital of Judah. When Babylonian invaders conquer the land, they deport much of the population to Babylon, a city near what is now Baghdad. Jeremiah and a group of survivors who remain in Judah later escape to Egypt.

First Prayer Request

From Catawba Heights Baptist Church, Belmont NC

Prayer request

Prayer request for Gary and Cindy Hogan - don't delete please Gary is serving in Iraq while his young wife is fighting cancer here.  Prayer is a powerful thing.  THIS COUPLE NEEDS OUR PRAYERS. PLEASE read this. IT BE TERRIBLY DIFFICULT TO BE IN IRAQ WITH A SICK WIFE AT HOME.
    Bobby S. Briggs, MSgt, USAF
    823 ESFS/SFOC
    Flight Sergeant
    BAGHDAD AB , IRAQ

Tough times don't last... Tough people do !!!
My name is Gary Hogan. Some of you receiving this know me, some  do not.  My wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed 3 days ago with stage 4 cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim.   She was pregnant with our second child and had miscarried recently at 3 months, and now we know why. This is a request for you to for ward this e-mail to every one you know asking for prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed, the better.

Pray and forward. It only takes a second to hit 'forward'.

Please do it and don't delete this. Your prayer can, and perhaps  will, save her life. Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray for the HEALING of Cindy and the removal of all cancer in her body, so  she may enjoy all that life has to offer, and to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5 year old son, Michael. The power of Prayer is unsurpassed. I want the whole world to have her in their prayers  the next few weeks. God will hear our cry. Please do not be offended by my plea.. This is only a request for your help.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and helping with our request for healing! No words can express the power we have  when we each do a little to come together.

Regards, Cindy's in-love husband - Gary

Thank you, and please send it to the far reaches of our world.

Second Prayer Request

This is a prayer request for Shannon Wigginton who is Vickie Bell's daughter.  Vickie is secretary at Salvation Army.  About 3 days ago, it was discovered that Shannon had a severe infection in her heart.  She is intensive care at University of Kentucky Hospital.  Vickie and all her family are there with her.  It was a very rare thing to happen The only hope seemed to be a heart transplant but they were told last night that her heart was completely damaged but that she was too sick and unstable to even be put on the heart transplant list.

Many people have been praying for Shannon.

God who made Shannon's heart has done a miracle.

We just got word that Shannon has done a complete turn around!  The Doctors are taking the balloon out of the heart today and decreasing medications.  The draining tube from around her heart should be removed this afternoon.  She will be taken off the ventilator tomorrow.  Shannon will be in the hospital at least another week.  The virus has run it's course, and they will start her on medication to heal her heart.  No Heart transplant!

Shannon still needs our prayers.  She still has a long way to heal but the healing has started.  PRAISE THE LORD!

Please continue to pray for Shannon, her husband Lee and their 2 year old little boy.  Pray for Vickie and her family as they are in  Kentucky with Shannon at the hospital.

In Christ,

Pam Wilkins

Fw: Gasoline Purchase

I'm forwarding this as is…………..

I personally do not buy CITGO gas or trade at any of their locations for this reason.  You make up your own mind!!!!!!!!!

Verified by Snopes

 IN ORLANDO LAST WEEK, AT A CITGO STATION REGULAR GAS WAS PRICED AT $2.82 PER GALLON, NO CUSTOMERS, HOWEVER ACROSS THE STREET WHERE FUEL WAS SELLING FOR $2.85 PER GALLON AND ALL PUMPS THERE HAD CARS WAITING TO FUEL.

Have you noticed how the Citgo signs have disappeared in the past 7-8 months? Very clever move by Chavez.But guess what? CITGO IS CHANGING ITS NAME...this is serious Americans...make sure you read.

Chavez is NOW getting a Russian Weapons Factory built by Putin. The RUSSIANS are building an AK-47 Kalashnikov Assault Rifle factory in
Venezuela, to give armament support to Communist Rebel groups throughout the Americas

C havez NOW has IRANIANS operating his oil refineries in Venezuela
for him.  It is likely only a matter of time, if not already, before Chavez has Iranian built LONG RANGE missiles, with a variety of warhead types aimed  at: Guess Who?

CITGO is NOW in the process of changing Its name to PETRO EXPRESS
due to the loss of gasoline sales in the USA due to the recent publicity of  ownership by Chavez of  Venezuela.  Every dollar you spend with CITGO or PETRO EXPRESS gasoline will be used against you, your basic human rights, and your freedoms.He  will start wars here in the Americas that will probably be the death of millions.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT because Chavez is starting to feel the loss of
revenue from his holdings. HE OWNS CITGO. This is a very important move
that everyone should be aware of.

ANNOUNCED JUST RECENTLY, CITGO, BEING AWARE TH AT SALES ARE DOWN DUE TO U.S. CUSTOMERS NOT WANTING TO BUY FROM "CITGO-CHAVEZ", HAVE STARTED TO  CHANGE THE NAME OF SOME OF THEIR STORES TO: "PETRO EXPRESS"  ... DO NOT BUY FROM "PETRO EXPRESS" EITHER!!! "PETRO EXPRESS" IS ALSO 100% OWNED BY "CHAVEZ."

KEEP THIS MEMO GOING SO TH AT EVERYONE KNOWS WHAT IS HAPPENING.

BOYCOTT >-------- "CITGO" AND "PETRO EXPRESS" ---------< BOYCOTT

MAKE SURE THIS IS PASSED ON TO EVERYONE IN YOUR E-MAIL LIST IN
THE UNITED STATES AND OUTSIDE OF AMERICA!.

Subject: Urgent Prayer Request

One of my supervisor's at work lost her 22 year old daughter in a car wreck yesterday.  Please pass this along.  The family is in urgent need of prayers through this tragic time.  The daughter's name is Danielle Wrenn.  Please  everybody be in prayer for the Wrenn family at this time.  They are a Christian family and I pray this tragedy will not let their faith waiver.  This is the second death of a child this family has gone through this year.  My supervisor's best friend (also a woman I work with) lost her daughter in February.  The two girls were like sisters.  They are together now with the Lord.

Our First Lady Kim desperately needs your prayers - please pass this on

Our First Lady Kim's brother passed away recently and she is having a very hard time with it.  She is in so much pain and she said she really needs a touch from the Lord.  I ask that all you prayer warriors out there join me in agreement in prayer for Kim and her family that God will touch her and comfort her and do what needs to be done in her life.  He said we have not because we ask not, so I am begging you to please ask this for Kim.  She desperately needs your prayers right now and that is what we are supposed to be here for.......she is your sister too, if you are a member of the body of Christ  Please pray and pass this on to everyone you know

Thank you and God bless you all.

Change in arrangements for Chris Collins

Due to Chris's mother and stepdad and against the wishes of Chris's children and siblings, the funeral arrangements were changed at the last minute last night.  The funeral will now take place at Christ Memorial Christian Church on S. 87 in Graham at 2:00 Saturday.  Everything else will be the same.

Also, just FYI.....I believe the newspaper had Chris listed as a member of Christ Memorial, when in fact Chris was a member of Lighthouse Chapel.

If I sound mean, I apologize, but I am very frustrated at the lengths some people will go to in order to hurt and undercut someone else.  And I felt if I was going to let everyone know that the funeral had been changed, then you all had a right to know WHY the funeral had been changed.

Please remember my First Lady, her brothers, and Chris's children in your prayers because this is already a hard situation for them and the actions of a few are making it even harder.  Thanks and God bless.

Love,
Stephanie

Prayer for Tricia

This is a prayer request on PrayAbout.com. Will you please join me in praying for this person?:

---------
Prayer for Tricia (healing)

Please pray for my friend (and new sister-in-Christ) Tricia. She has to go to the doctor today because they have told her that she may have cancer. I ask that all of you join me, agreeing with me in prayer, that they would find no signs of cancer in her body. I pray that God would heal her from the top of her head to the soles of her feet and that He would put a shield of protection over her so that the demon of cancer cannot pervade her body. Saints of God, please pray with me over this young girl and through faith we can move this mountain!! Thank you all.

God bless.

Stephanie

Announcement

I have been called by the Lord to preach His Word and I recently announced this calling (about 2 weeks ago) and should be preaching my first sermon very soon. Please pray for me that God would use me and work through me that many souls may be saved and brought closer to God. Also pray for my family because this causes a bigger responsibility to be brought on them as well. I want to be all that God wants me to be and I need your prayers to fulfill my role to the fullest. Thank you in advance for your prayers and God bless each and every one of you.

I love you all!

The Old Paths.

 THE OLD PATHS

I liked the old paths, when
  Moms were at home.
  Dads were at work.
  Brothers went into the army.
  And sisters got married BEFORE having children!

Crime did not  pay;
  Hard work did;
  And people knew the difference.

Moms could cook;
  Dads would  work;
  Children would behave.

 Husbands were  loving;
  Wives were supportive;
  And children were polite.

  Women wore the jewelry;
  And Men wore the pants.
  Women looked like ladies;
  Men looked like gentlemen;
  And children looked decent.

 People loved the truth,
  And hated a lie;
  They came to church to get IN,
  Not to get OUT!

  Hymns sounded Godly;
  Sermons sounded helpful;
  Rejoicing sounded normal;
  And crying sounded sincere.

  Cursing was wicked;
  Drugs were for illness;
  And divorce was unthinkable.

  The flag was honored;
  America was beautiful;
  And God was welcome!

  We read the Bible in public;
  Prayed in school;
  And preached from house to house
  To be called an American was worth dying for;
  To be called a Christian was worth living for;
  To be called a traitor was a shame!

 Preachers preached because they had a message;
  And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
  Preachers preached from the Bible;
  Singers sang from the heart;
  And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!

  A new birth meant a new life;
  Salvation meant a changed life;
  Following Christ led to eternal life.

 Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of God;
  Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
  Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
   And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!

  Laws were based on the Bible;
  Homes read the Bible;
  And churches taught the Bible.

God was worshiped;
  Christ was exalted;
  And the Holy Spirit was respected.

Church was where you found Christians
  on the Lord's day, rather than in the garden,
  on the creek bank, on the golf course,
  or being entertained somewhere else.

  I still like the old paths the best!

Let me share my blessing with you!

I just wanted to take the time to tell you all about a very special woman of God that I met today. Her name is Armina D. Swittenburg and she is the Interim Pastor at God's Favor Community Church where Bishop Steven W. Clay is the Presiding Bishop. I have known Bishop Clay for many years and he has always been a blessing to me, but this was the first time that I met Armina Swittenburg. I can tell you that the Lord truly shown through her and I felt an immediate bond with her. After speaking with her, her mother, and her sister I just had to write this blog to share the blessing with you.

In addition to being the Interim Pastor at God's Favor, Armina is also the Editor-in-Chief of Church World News. I read through the magazine and was truly blessed. That magazine just magnifies my vision of churches working together to rise up and reach others. As you know from some of my previous writings, I think we are living in a very apathetic society. We as Christians aren't doing the jobs that God has called us to do. We have a sort of "let someone else do it" mentality.

Pastor Swittenburg is using this magazine as a way to reach others by coming together, as their headline says, as "One Church....Many Voices". I urge you to go to their website and check it out. Subscriptions are only $18.95 for six months, which is less than half off the cover price of only $6.95 per issue. I'm not trying to sell you anything. I am simply trying to bless you. You don't have to order the magazine, but please, I urge you to go to their website and take a look and please keep this magazine and this ministry in your prayers. I feel with all my heart that God is going to use this ministry for some mighty things. And I want you to be part of the blessings that will come out of it. So check out the pictures below that I copied from their website and then go to the web address I have inserted at the bottom. Thanks and God bless.

Oh, and one more thing....when you go to the website, be sure to drop Pastor Swittenburg a note letting her know that you are praying for her and her ministry, and let her know that Stephanie sent you!! Feel free to write to me to let me know how it has blessed you.

Much Love,
Stephanie
